Text vs. Voice: How Communication Modality Impacts Consumers’ Attitudes in Human-Machines Interactions

A series of online experiments demonstrates that individuals interacting with human agents prefer to disclose information by voice but prefer to disclose to AI agents via text—which is seen as the authentic communication modality of machines.
