Sriram (Sri) Venkataraman is the Edward M. O’Herron Scholar, Professor of Marketing and Assistant Dean of the Full-Time MBA Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Dr. Venkataraman is a big-data scientist with expertise in pricing and social-media analytics. His research is interdisciplinary and employs a disparate set of methods spanning statistics, economics and computer science. Dr. Venkataraman’s research is always driven by his pertinacious desire to produce meaningful and actionable managerial insights. His research has appeared in leading marketing, economics and finance journals including Marketing Science, Management Science, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, the American Economic Review, and The Review of Financial Studies. Dr. Venkataraman’s research findings have been referenced by the White House, analysts at the Federal Reserve Board, and by overseas governments. Overseas, Dr. Venkataraman has collaborated with the Chief Economic Advisor of the government of India to help evaluate some of the Indian government’s healthcare initiatives. He was inducted into the inaugural class of 2018 MSI Marketing Scholars, which comprises the top 30 marketing scholars worldwide.

Dr. Venkataraman’s research has been adopted by Fortune 100 companies in industries that include entertainment, software, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, technology and consumer packaged goods. He holds several patents and has consulted with firms like GE, Sony, Disney, Cox, Coca-Cola, SAS and USAA. He also serves as an advisor to prominent full-service analytics startups that provide business intelligence solutions in data-intensive industries.

An award-winning teacher and researcher, Dr. Venkataraman previously served on the faculty of Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and as a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago’s Booth School. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in management from Cornell University.
