Celebration of the Life of Donald R. Lehmann

March 10, 2026

We are writing to share news from Columbia Business School about upcoming events honoring the life and contributions of Don Lehmann. Many in the MSI community knew Don well—he served as MSI’s Executive Director twice, spent 54 years at Columbia Business School, and was a highly esteemed faculty member, a legend in the field of marketing, and a mentor, colleague, friend, and coach to many. Columbia will host two events in tribute to Don:

Celebration of the Life of Donald R. Lehmann

Monday, March 30 | 3:00 pm EST

St. Paul’s Chapel, Columbia University (Morningside Heights campus)

The memorial will be followed by a reception at Buell Hall from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. All who knew Don are invited to join his colleagues in celebrating his tremendous contributions to the School, the University, and the marketing field. If you plan to attend, please RSVP HERE by Thursday, March 26. Columbia asks for your name and email address in advance to access the campus. Campus entry is available at 116th St. & Amsterdam Avenue or 116th St. & Broadway. See directions here.

In addition, Columbia will host a one-day academic conference on May 2 to honor Don’s contributions to the field. The program will include panels and talks from colleagues and collaborators, followed by a dinner. More details will be shared soon.

Don had a profound impact on MSI, Columbia, and the broader marketing science community. We wanted to share these opportunities for those who wish to celebrate his life and legacy.
