MSI in Action in 2019: Letter from CEO Cheryl Toto
As marketing science becomes increasingly complex, savvy marketers are finding more innovative ways of tapping into breakthrough insights to fuel growth. I am delighted to share how the network of the Marketing Science Institute -- top-tier academics and leading companies -- has kicked off 2019 together.
We began the new year with a remarkable group of academics at our 10th MSI Young Scholars conference in Park City, Utah. I am so impressed with the caliber and enthusiasm of this group. They are eager to conduct research that has a real impact on the questions that matter to our members. We were delighted to spend a few days together to get better acquainted with them and their work, and we are working on ways these scholars can engage with interested members.
In mid-January, we held two Roundtables—one on marketing insights and one on data analytics. As many of you know, these small-group meetings enable an open, robust exchange of ideas as members share best practices and advice with thought-leading peers from other companies.
I am proud to point to these initiatives as examples of MSI “in action”. I’m sure you will agree that there has never been a more important time to foster these kinds of collaborations and productive exchanges among researchers, scholars, and business leaders.
Here are upcoming opportunities to engage with us:
Our Lunch Lecture Series continues to provide industry-leading knowledge and insights. We are fortunate to have presenters like Stanford professor Szu-chi Huang, who recently discussed "Sustaining Motivation in Customers, Employees, and Yourself". Find out more about our online lectures here and view recordings of past lectures here.
On February 27-28, we are convening an exceptional group of data scientists and analytics leaders at Columbia University for “Marketing Analytics for the Transforming Media Landscape”. This is an unmatched opportunity to learn about the latest developments, gain practical insights, and connect with others in similar roles across industries. We have a few seats left, and if you can’t attend, I encourage you to tell interested colleagues about the event.
“Right Channel, Right Content, Right Time” is the theme of our Spring Trustees Meeting, April 3-5, in Boston, and we are designing an agenda to position our Trustees with knowledge and network opportunities to become even more effective in their roles as marketing leaders.
Finally, we are innovating in MSI’s content channels, with significant expansion of our working paper library, new summaries like “Research Briefs,” and an expanded monthly communication, “The Source”. Please connect with us on LinkedIn for MSI network news and research insights, and I’d be delighted to connect with you directly as well.
Thank you for being part of this community of marketing scientists. I look forward to collaborating with you in the coming year.
